On Thursday, June 7, 2012 yours truly will be giving a talk on using and contributing to eBird. You should join us!
The talk will be near downtown Columbus, OH at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center (home of Columbus Audubon), and is co-sponsored by the Central Ohio Chapter of the American Society for Information Science & Technology. See the announcement below for details.
P.S. If you can’t make this talk, I’ll be giving a similar talk at the East Central Ohio Audubon Chapter’s annual meeting (potluck at 6pm, talk begins at 7pm) the following Monday, June 11th at the College Town House on Broadway in Granville, OH. Members, friends, and the public are all welcome.
Introduction to eBird
Join us on Thursday evening, June 7th, 2012, for this spring program co-sponsored by CO-ASIS&T and the Grange Insurance Audubon Center.
SUMMARY: eBird (www.ebird.org) is an increasingly popular internet-based checklist program that provides bird watchers a free and easy way to organize their bird sightings, keep checklists, and share their observations with others. This seminar will cover getting started with eBird, submitting observations, embedding photos in your checklists, and using eBird’s data visualization tools to explore the local birds or the birds you’ll likely encounter during your next vacation. Librarians, beginning birders and seasoned experts are encouraged to attend! (See flier attached).
PRESENTER: Paul Hurtado, PhD
Paul is a Postdoctoral Fellow at OSU’s Mathematical Biosciences Institute & Aquatic Ecology Laboratory. He is an avid birder and experienced user of eBird.
This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. RSVP for this Free program (so we can plan for enough refreshments!) with Moriana Garcia at email@example.com
